My Journey to Becoming..... Me! (And How Online Marketing Helped)

What to Say, What to Say...

I'm going to be honest with you. The only reason that I am writing these words is so that I don't have to continue staring at a blank screen. Ask me to tell you about business, art, or music and you'll never hear the end of it. But ask me to write about myself, and you've successfully discovered my equivalent to Kryptonite. So let me choke down this glass of wine and then I'll give it my best shot.

When I Was Pint-Sized

I've always been future-oriented. I spent my childhood dreaming up fantastical lives for myself; my favorite question was, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I wanted to be this, I wanted to be that; but whatever it was, it was dramatic. A movie star married to the then-gorgeous-beyond-belief Mel Gibson, a zoologist that lives in the wild with tigers, a Major League baseball player. Yes, a female Major League baseball player. Obviously, I had issues with gender identity, as well. I [secretly] idolized my older brother, but don't tell him that. I wanted to do everything that he could do; play football like the boys, watch wrestling like the boys, even spit like the boys. But at the same time, I wanted to be feminine and pretty like the girls. My older sister's favorite memory of me describes it perfectly: I was probably 6 years old at the time and was sitting in front of my mother's dressing table, brushing my long blonde hair, feeling (and acting) like a princess. I then sighed and softly said, "Lindsay, do you think that someday I could be a gun fighter?"

Did You Always Know What You Wanted To Be When You Grew Up?

  • Absolutely - I'm Now A Gun Fighter!
  • Nope - Who Does?

Let's Get Logical, Logical.

I can't say that I ever grew out of this whimsical state of mind. Although I craved an extraordinary life, I knew that it wasn't going to be handed to me. Throughout high school and college, I worked very hard and always got good grades. No matter what my major was at the time (8 in total), I made sure that I was good at it. But there was just one problem -- I changed my major 8 times!!! It started out being funny, but then it became flat out stressful. The thought of choosing one thing to do for the rest of my life was inconceivable to me. I absolutely loved school, but I knew that I couldn't afford to be in it for, let's see, 8 x 4 = too long! So, I chose my favorite and stuck with it; Art History. Yep. Art. History. In case you don't know much about education in the States, a Bachelor's degree in Art History pretty much equates to a certification from clown school; I learned a lot, but now I just look stupid.

How Online Marketing Saved Me

So, there I was. Out of school, unable to find a decent job, and broke. Then, as if it were a gift sent directly from God, I stumbled upon an informational webpage about online marketing. After much research of the subject, I realized that it would be nonsensical and just plain silly to not give it a shot. It involves so many of my favorite things; education, writing, and $$$! This business has not only completely changed my life, but changed my attitude towards life. Now, I am able to live the extraordinary life that I always wanted due to the freedom and rewards that online marketing and being an entrepreneur provides.

I am constantly learning new ways to build wealth, run a successful business, and to pass my knowledge and entrepreneur ideas on to others who want to do the same. So, now that you know a bit about me, I encourage you to follow me and learn from me as I write an article about online marketing, wealth, and business in general every week! I'll also throw in a fun one occasionally because, hey, our greatest ability is the ability to learn about many aspects of life. ;-)

Happy hubbing!

Loved your article Jordan, reminded of my school days. My family told me at careers day I was to say I wanted to be a 'Teacher' as it would count for a better class placement. In fact I told the careers officer that I wanted to be a 'Lion Tamer'...and I'm allergic to cats...so go figure! Luckily I finished up as an 'Entrepreneur' much more fun.

Jordan, excellent job. I really enjoyed reading about you. The picture of Mel Gibson through me off until I realized it was him--so young. Great job. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the comments, guys (and gal)!

Jan - I feel like I know you, too!

Justin - A nice Chianti always manages to do the trick.

Gareth - I can't say I've ever been called that before, but I will take it! :) And yes, that's exactly what I love about Art History. There's so much psychology involved, and the beauty doesn't hurt either.
